DIKE STABILIZATION | RING DIKE WATERGRAAFSMEER

In October 2018, JLD Contracting began reinforcing the Ringdijk Watergraafsmeer, which is located in the Watergraafsmeer district of Amsterdam- East, on the south side of the ring canal. The dike starts at the Amstel River and ends at the A10 Ring Road East near the Zeeburgerbrug. We are strengthening the section between Wibautstraat and Middenweg. The length of the stretch of dike is 1 kilometer. A big step for dike reinforcement in the Netherlands and beyond.

While Amsterdam's Ringdijk is high enough, it is not strong enough. There is limited space on the characteristic dike with its historic buildings. Neighbors and the district want the trees on the dike to be preserved as much as possible and the character of the dike not to be affected. Therefore, the water board Amstel Gooi and Vecht (AGV) has chosen to use the JLD Dike Stabilizer. This means that the dike itself does not have to be widened or raised. Also, during application there is no deformation of the subsoil, so no damage to buildings. And that is quite a relief for the local residents.
