It concerns a work in Haarlem where partial replacement and reinforcement was the goal. A new section of steel sheet piling was installed and 350 meters of concrete quay had to be anchored to stabilize the construction. After Schouls Brothers from Leiden accepted the work after the tender, JLD Contracting has been continuously involved in optimizing the anchoring construction and the plans for the execution. The anchors were recalculated, special anchor chairs were developed and a special test yoke had to be built to test the anchors.
Since there were many obstacles in the water (floating jetties, an old Navy ship, several houseboats), the anchors were mostly placed from the shore.
Because of buildings close to the quay, anchors also had to be placed from the water. In consultation with the residents, the houseboats were temporarily relocated and the anchoring work was carried out. Both the residents, client and main contractor are more than satisfied with the work performed by JLD Contracting.
